FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- A child lost his life and two others were injured due to a landmine blast in north Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, a statement of the provincial police office said on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Jarm district on Tuesday afternoon, the statement said without providing more details.
A similar incident claimed the lives of two children and injured another in Darzab district of the northern Jawzjan province a month ago.
Afghanistan reportedly is one of the most landmine-contaminated countries as the unexploded devices left over from more than four decades of war claim the lives of over a dozen people, mostly children, each month in the country. ■
