Vietnam attracts over 25.7 bln USD in FDI in 10 months

HANOI, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam attracted some 25.76 billion U.S. dollars in foreign direct investment (FDI) from the start of this year to Oct. 20, a year-on-year growth of 14.7 percent, showed latest data from the General Statistics Office.

During the cited period, Vietnam recorded 2,608 newly-registered FDI projects with a total investment of 15.29 billion dollars, Vietnam News Agency has recently reported.

Among the 18 economic sectors that received FDI during this period, the processing and manufacturing industry took the lead with nearly 18.84 billion dollars, accounting for almost 73.1 percent of the total and rising 45.8 percent year on year.

A total of 108 countries and regions poured money into Vietnam from January to October with Asian investors dominating the FDI flows into Vietnam, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

China ranked the first in terms of the number of new projects during the cited period, accounting for 21.7 percent of the total.
