KABUL, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's central bank Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) will auction 13 million U.S. dollars on Sunday to stabilize the exchange rate of the national currency, a statement of the bank said.
Afghanistan's national currency, the afghani, has been tumbling against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar. The exchange rate of 1 U.S. dollar increased from last week's 73 afghanis to 77.54 afghanis on Sunday.
The DAB also auctioned up to 14 million U.S. dollars last Sunday.
Afghanistan has received more than 2 billion dollars in cash over the past 22 months as part of the international community's humanitarian aid to prevent the economic collapse of the cash-strapped country. ■
