HANOI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Further opportunities will be unlocked for Vietnamese furniture industry thanks to its strong foundation of craft villages, natural material resources and manufacturing capacity, local newspaper Vietnam News reported on Tuesday.
These advantages enable the Vietnamese home decor and furniture industry to create unique and distinctive products to unlock global markets, the newspaper report said.
Vietnam's wood industry exports now stand at over 10 billion U.S. dollars annually, according to the newspaper. It is important that Vietnamese exporters should uplift their workers' craftsmanship and product quality.
Vietnam reaped more than 8.3 billion dollars from exporting wood and wood products in the first eight months of this year, down 25.4 percent year on year, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
Vietnamese furniture products have been exported to over 120 countries and regions including the United States, the European Union, Britain, Canada, Japan and Australia. ■
