TOKYO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The approval rating for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's cabinet fell 4.2 percentage points from a month before to 26.6 percent in August, down for the third consecutive month, a Jiji Press opinion poll showed on Thursday.
According to the latest survey conducted for four days through Monday, the public support rate dropped under the key threshold of 30 percent, which is commonly viewed as a danger zone for the cabinet, for the first time in five months.
Meanwhile, the disapproval rate increased 8.1 points to 47.4 percent, the highest since Kishida became prime minister in October 2021.
The dismal support is seen reflecting the spate of problems related to My Number personal identification cards, such as personal information mistakenly linked to other people's cards and made accessible to others, Jiji Press said. ■
