HANOI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Three more deaths due to landslides and flooding triggered by prolonged heavy rains in northern Vietnam have been reported, bringing the total death toll to 11 between Aug. 2 to 7, according to Vietnam's National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on Tuesday.

The new victims were found in Yen Bai, Lao Cai and Ha Giang provinces on Aug. 6 and 7, said the committee, adding that two more injuries are reported in Lao Cai and Cao Bang provinces, bringing the total of injured people to five.

Between Aug. 2 to 7, the disasters destroyed 54 houses and damaged 297 others, as well as 176 hectares of rice and other crops, according to the committee, noting that landslides also occurred on highways and roads.
