ISLAMABAD, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan shares the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) vision of amity and cooperation with countries in the Asia-Pacific region and believes that an integrated Asia promises a prosperous future for all, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Tuesday.
"Pakistan has, therefore, endeavored to develop partnerships all across Asia particularly with ASEAN countries," the foreign minister said in his special congratulatory message on the 56th ASEAN Day.
The South Asian country's relations with ASEAN members have continued to grow both bilaterally and in the multilateral context, with great potential for enhanced cooperation in the areas of trade, tourism, agriculture, information technology, and maritime cooperation, he said.
The "ASEAN way" of diplomatic engagement provides a blueprint for regional peace and cooperation, and is today a central pillar of regional architecture, Zardari said.
Pakistan desires a strong and successful Southeast Asia, which is critical for the stability and development of the entire continent, he added. ■
