BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 15 (Xinhua) -- A local drug trafficking suspect in Brunei has faced multiple charges, including one carrying the death penalty, local media reported on Saturday.
Mohamad Sharifudin, a 38-year-old local man, faced a charge of trafficking 193.5 grams of pure methylamphetamine in 247.04 grams of crystals in February, according to the local Borneo Bulletin daily.
The charges carried the death penalty as the alleged amount of methylamphetamine is over 100 grams.
Prosecutors also leveled a possession charge against the defendant involving 8.19 grams of pure meth on the same occasion.
The case was fixed for a preliminary inquiry on Nov. 22-23. ■
