ISLAMABAD, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Six terrorists were killed during a military operation in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement on Wednesday night.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said that a fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists in the Kot Azam area of South Waziristan, a district bordering Afghanistan.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, said the ISPR statement, adding that the killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as killing of innocent citizens and extortion.
Sanitization of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists in the area, said the statement.
Earlier, four people including three security personnel were killed in a suicide attack at a security check post in the North Waziristan district of the province, according to the military. ■
