VIENTIANE, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Laos and Cuba have pledged to strengthen cooperative relationship and ensure more effective cooperation between the two countries.
General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith made the remarks at a meeting with Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of organization of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee, on April 28-30, the Lao News Agency reported on Tuesday.
Welcoming the high-ranking delegation from the PCC, Thongloun expressed his appreciation of the visit, saying it was an important contribution to enhancing friendship and unity between the two parties, states and peoples.
The president promised that Laos would continue to cooperate with Cuba to strengthen their cooperative relationship and ensure it will become more effective.
Morales expressed his satisfaction with the excellent state of relations between Cuba and Laos.
The Cuban party official also met with Vice President of Laos Bounthong Chitmany on Saturday.
The two sides updated each other on the situation in their respective countries and work being carried out by each party, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
They signed agreements on inter-party exchanges and cooperation of party schools and youth organizations. ■
