NEW DELHI, April 28 (Xinhua) -- To give a further boost to radio connectivity in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 91 new transmitters on Friday, thus providing radio accessibility to around 20 million more people.
The new Frequency Modulation (FM) transmitters belong to All India Radio (AIR).
Inaugurating the new transmitters virtually, Modi laid stress on the important role which radio plays in reaching out to the masses, noting that the inauguration of the new FM transmitters will revolutionize the radio industry in the country.
The new transmitters will help in relaying important information on time such as community building efforts, weather updates related to agricultural practices and information on food and vegetable prices for the farmers, pooling of advanced machinery for agriculture and assisting the entire community during times of a natural calamity. ■
