ISLAMABAD, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan welcomed Saudi Arabia's peace efforts in conflict-ridden Yemen, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said in a statement on Monday.
"Pakistan welcomes the recent dialogue and diplomatic engagement towards the attainment of peace in Yemen with particular reference to the Saudi role and endeavors in reinforcing the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman and the UN Special Envoy for Yemen," the foreign ministry's statement said.
The foreign ministry added that Saudi Arabia's efforts toward an amicable resolution of the Yemeni crisis are timely and would promote peace, stability and development in the region.
Pakistan also reiterated its principled support for a political solution to the Yemeni crisis through dialogue and consultation, according to the foreign ministry. ■
