KABUL, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police arrested three kidnappers and rescued a businessman in Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul, said a statement of Police Headquarters released on Tuesday.
Police units launched operations against the kidnapping group in Kabul's Police district 15 on Monday evening. As a result, a kidnapped businessman was rescued and three kidnappers were arrested, said the statement.
In similar operations against outlaws, police have arrested 18 criminals allegedly involved in theft, robbery, murder and kidnapping in Laghman, Takhar, Helmand and Samangan provinces over the past couple of weeks.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to crack down on criminals and those carrying arms illegally as part of efforts to ensure law and order in the war-ravaged country. ■
