BANGKOK, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's auto production increased in February as semiconductor supplies improved while auto exports climbed, data showed on Thursday.

Auto manufacturers produced a total of 165,612 vehicles in the country last month, rising 2.02 percent month on month and up 6.39 percent from one year earlier, due to a rise in production for exports, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

In the first two months of the year, auto production amounted to 327,939 units, up 6.68 percent from one year earlier, Surapong Paisitpattanapong, FTI's automotive industry club vice president and spokesman, told a news conference.

The country's car exports climbed 11.42 percent year on year in February, after a 24.28-percent increase registered in January, according to Surapong.

Domestic auto sales fell 3.94 percent year on year in February, but the sales expanded 9.11 percent from the previous month, Surapong said.
