MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Casualties are feared after a blast that on Thursday rocked Mazar-i-Sharif city, capital of Afghanistan's northern Balkh province, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri said.
"A blast took place next to the office of provincial governor office minutes ago and so far we have no more details," Waziri told Xinhua.
In the meantime, the private television channel Tolonews reported that security forces had cordoned off the area and blocked public access to the site of the incident. ■
