TOKYO, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The Japanese police received 84,496 consultation requests regarding domestic violence in 2022, a record high for the 19th consecutive year, police data showed Thursday.
According to the data released by the National Police Agency, among the total, which rose 1.8 percent from the previous year, 73.1 percent of the alleged domestic violence victims were women, while requests from men also increased, up by 1,819.
Police made arrests or took other law enforcement action in 8,581 domestic violence cases, which included one case of injury resulting in death and 116 attempted murder cases. ■
