YANGON, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar exported more than 1.18 million tons of rice in the first 10 months of fiscal year 2022-23 starting in April last year, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) on Wednesday.
From April last year to January this year, the country also exported more than 727,939 tons of broken rice, the MRF's data showed.
The country exported 171,811 tons of rice in January, as compared to 198,306 tons registered during the same period last year, the data showed.
Myanmar exported rice to China, Japan, European Union countries, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, African countries and Middle East countries, according to the MRF.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Southeast Asian country has shipped most of rice and broken rice via sea routes during the period.
In Myanmar, rice is the most cultivated crop followed by beans and pulses. ■
