DHAKA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- The runway of Bangladesh's main airport in Dhaka will remain closed five hours each night in the next two months for renovation.

Kamrul Islam, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), told reporters Wednesday that starting Feb. 2, from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. local time everyday till April 2, the entire landing system of the airport will be renovated.

He said flights of different airlines had been shifted to other times of the day.

The executive director said necessary measures had been taken so that passengers would not have to face any trouble at the airport for a long time due to such extra pressure.

To ease the pressure, Islam said, they had also formed monitoring teams.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has reportedly launched a project to upgrade the Instrument Landing System (ILS) of airports in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Cox's Bazar to Category-2 so that flights can land at those airports despite fog.
