ISLAMABAD, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani rupee finally gains recovery following a deep series of depreciation against the U.S. dollar as the greenback was traded at 267.89 rupees in the interbank market on Tuesday, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The U.S. dollar closed at 269.63 rupees on Monday. On the second working day of the week, the local currency appreciated by 1.74 rupees, or about 0.65 percent, against the U.S. dollar, official figures showed.

The rupee gained strength after depreciating for 29 successive sessions including a deep dive since Thursday last week.

According to the market analysts, the improvement in the local currency resulted centrally due to the arrival of the International Monetary Fund's delegation in the South Asian country to discuss and review the economic and fiscal policies and reforms agenda to accomplish the 9th review under the Extended Fund Facility.
