TASHKENT, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Rescue teams recovered five bodies after a gas explosion in a four-story building in northwestern Uzbekistan, the emergency ministry said Monday.
The rescuers found a five-year-old girl alive under the ruins in Nukus city, the capital of the Karakalpakstan Republic. The girl and two more people with injuries were taken to hospital, according to the ministry.
The deadly incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the fourth floor of the building, it said.
The prosecutor's office said it has launched a criminal investigation. ■
