BANGKOK, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Thai private sector on Wednesday joined the government's efforts to host Specialised Expo 2027/28 in the southern resort island of Phuket as the bid entered the final phase.

The collaboration between the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), as the national bidder, and the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry, and Banking (JSCCIB), affirms the support from all sectors in the country for the final host selection in June.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony, JSCCIB chairman Sanan Angubolkul said, under the concept of "Connect the Dots," the initiative between the two parties will involve close collaboration with the local private sector in Phuket and neighboring provinces, which will create opportunities for the country to become the host.

The TCEB will discuss with the private sector ways to publicize the bid among every target group, including holding a joint forum to consider possible cooperation for bid support, TCEB president Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya told the news conference, adding that the TCEB will also distribute promotional materials to raise awareness of the bid, which is now on the national agenda.

According to the TCEB, if the Southeast Asian country wins the bid to host the expo, scheduled from March 20 to June 17, it will attract an estimated 7 million visitors. The expo is also expected to generate a revenue of nearly 50 billion baht (1.5 billion U.S. dollars) while creating an additional 113,439 jobs.
