FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- A mineworker lost his life in a mudslide in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Tuesday, provincial director of information and culture Qari Maazudin Ahmadi said Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the Yawan district of the province on Monday afternoon when some miners were busy in digging, killing at least one of the miners, the official told Xinhua.
This is the second occurrence of its kind in the same district over the past two weeks.
In the first incident, which occurred on Jan. 6, three gold miners were trapped under the debris but were rescued after three days. ■
