Thailand's auto exports hit 45-month high in December

BANGKOK, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's auto exports rose to a 45-month high of 111,605 units in December as the supply of semiconductor parts picked up, data showed on Tuesday.

The country's auto exports climbed 10.17 percent year on year in December to 111,605 units, with a combined export value of 65.99 billion baht (about 2.01 billion U.S. dollars), an 8.21-percent increase year on year, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

In December, the country's car production rose 2.75 percent from a year earlier to 158,606 units, FTI auto club vice president and spokesman Surapong Paisitpattanapong said at a news conference.

In 2022, the country manufactured more than 1.8 million cars, marking an increase of 11.73 percent from a year earlier, he said.

Thailand's full-year exports reached 1,000,256 units, topping an earlier projection of one million units and up 4.28 percent from 2021, according to Surapong.

The FTI expected the country's auto production to rise 3.53 percent year on year this year.
