PUL-E-ALAM, Afghanistan, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- A total of eight commuters were killed and two others injured in two different road crashes in Afghanistan's eastern Logar province on Monday, a statement from the provincial police department released here Tuesday said.
In the first accident, a mini-truck plunged into a ravine in Tera area late Monday, leaving four dead on the spot and injuring two others, while minutes later a car turned turtle in the same area due to reckless driving, killing four on the spot, the statement added.
Congested roads, old vehicles, and reckless driving are blamed for road accidents in Afghanistan.
A similar road accident in Afghanistan's southern Zabul province last Wednesday injured nine commuters. ■
