NEW DELHI, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- India's factory activity growth, determined by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), contracted by 4 percent in October, the government data showed Monday.
IIP contracted to 129.6 in October from 133.5 in September.
"For the month of October 2022, the quick estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 129.6. The Indices of Industrial Production for the mining, manufacturing and electricity sectors for the month of October 2022 stand at 112.5, 128.7 and 169.3 respectively," reads the data issued by the federal Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI).
As for use-based classification, the indices stand at 131.1 for primary goods, 87.7 for capital goods, 143.1 for intermediate goods and 155.1 for infrastructure/construction goods for October 2022.
Further, the indices for consumer durables and consumer non-durables stand at 109.7 and 129.6 respectively for October 2022.
IIP recorded a growth of 3.1 percent in September. ■
