FIROZ KOAH, Afghanistan, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Police in a crackdown on illicit drugs destroyed three drug processing labs in the western Ghor province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Monday.

The police also confiscated large amounts of materials used as ingredients in drug production.

The labs, according to the state-controlled media outlet, were discovered in Lal Wa Sarjangal and Shahrak districts on Sunday, and 3.5 tons of objects used in manufacturing heroin were confiscated.

In similar operations, police discovered and destroyed three drug processing labs in the southern Helmand province and arrested seven people on charge of involvement in drug production and its trafficking.

Afghan caretaker administration has vowed to crack down on poppy cultivation, processing and trafficking until the country gets rid of the menace.
