BISHKEK, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Three members of the Islamic State (IS) extremist group have been detained in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country's State Committee for National Security reported on Wednesday.

In the course of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the Bishkek city and the Jalal-Abad region, three Kyrgyz citizens were detained for being members of the IS, said the report.

The security services revealed that two of the detainees attempted to leave another state for the zones of terrorist activity.

One of the detainees, who had previously been convicted of terrorist activities, directly coordinated the transfer of the other two recruits, provided them with money and fake passports of foreign states.

The activities of the IS are prohibited on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
