KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Police in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province have foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs outside the country and arrested one in regard to the case, provincial police spokesman Obaidullah Abid said Saturday.
A drug smuggler was attempting to take 10 kg of illicit drugs outside Afghanistan on Friday but was taken to police custody for investigation, the officer said.
Police also arrested three persons for drug smuggling in Kunduz province last week.
The Taliban-run caretaker administration has banned poppy cultivation, drug production and trafficking in the war-torn country. ■
