COLOMBO, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed officials to implement the Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) immediately in order to boost exports, local media reported Thursday.
The move came amidst an official visit by non-resident High Commissioner of Singapore Chandra Das to Sri Lanka.
Das called on Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and held discussions on a wide range of issues related to enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed in 2018 but is yet to be thoroughly implemented.
The FTA covers goods, services, investment, intellectual properties, telecommunications, e-commerce, trade facilitation, government procurement, competition and economic and technical cooperation, according to local media. ■
