MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's counter-narcotic police arrested five people on the charge of dealing with and trafficking drugs in the northern Balkh province on Monday, the provincial police headquarters said in a statement released here Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, counter-narcotic police launched an operation late Monday and arrested five drug dealers from the provincial capital Mazar-i-Sharif, the statement said.
An amount of illicit drugs has also been seized from the possession of the arrested men, the statement added.
Early on Sunday, police also arrested nine people on the charge of involvement in different crimes including armed theft, using hand grenades and disturbing public orders in Mazar-i-Sharif. ■
