ISLAMABAD, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed in heavy monsoon rain-triggered flash floods in the last 24 hours in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

According to a report released by the NDMA Sunday night, all the deaths were recorded in the southern Sindh province.

The report said 93 houses were destroyed and 20,738 livestock animals perished in different parts of Pakistan during the cited period.

The death toll in Pakistan from this season's monsoon rains and floods since mid-June has risen to 1,638, along with 12,865 injured, the NDMA said.

Additionally, 2,049,482 houses have been destroyed, while an estimated 1,103,800 livestock animals have perished in the rains across the South Asian country.

The NDMA added that 13,074 km of roads and 392 bridges have been damaged.

Rescue and relief operations by the NDMA, other government organizations, volunteers and non-governmental organizations were underway in the flood-hit areas.
