FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The provincial administration of Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province has recruited more than 90 former female police personnel into police force in the province, an officer of the training department of Badakhshan Police said.

"The Provincial Police Department of Badakhshan has put on duty more than 70 policewomen and 20 female police officers to help the police force in discharging their responsibilities," Mohammad Noor told Xinhua on Saturday.

The recruited policewomen had worked for the former government as part of police force in the province but lost their duties in the wake of the Taliban's takeover of country in August last year.

Due to the lack of female police personnel, it is difficult for policemen to properly discharge duty or search a suspected house or a woman, Noor said.
