ISLAMABAD, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Three terrorists were killed in two separate operations in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan and northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the police said on Friday.
The CTD personnel conducted an operation in the Sorgar area of Khuzdar district of Balochistan during which the terrorists opened fire on the police personnel, according to the CTD in Khuzdar.
An exchange of fire took place between terrorists and the police, killing two militants on the spot, the CTD said, adding that three of their accomplices managed to escape.
A search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to arrest on-the-run terrorists, said the police.
In a separate operation in Swat district of KP province, security forces along with CTD personnel thwarted a major terror bid and killed a wanted terrorist of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including explosives, hand grenades and assault rifles, were seized during the operations. ■
