KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia on Friday marked the 59th anniversary of the creation of the Malaysian Federation.
Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and the queen wished on Malaysia Day that Malaysia will continue to be protected from all forms of threats and calamities, and be blessed and bestowed with lasting prosperity and unity, in a brief statement.
Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement that Malaysia Day should be the catalyst to further boost the unity, inclusivity, togetherness and blessings of every citizen based on the values of the "Malaysian Family," a national unity program he is championing.
An official large-scale celebration will be held in the state of Malacca with Ismail Sabri being scheduled to join other officials in overseeing the festivities.
Malaysia Day is celebrated on Sept. 16 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian Federation on that date in 1963. ■
