Indonesian Navy's small plane crashes above water off East Java

JAKARTA, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A small plane operated by the Indonesian Navy went down during an exercise in the water off Indonesia's East Java province on Wednesday, a statement from the Indonesian Navy said.

The plane, G-36 Bonanza T-2503, was carrying two people on board, the pilot and the co-pilot, and crashed in the Madura Strait of the province during the air defense exercise.

A search operation to look for the plane is still underway now. Thirteen Navy's ships, personnel and divers have been deployed in the operation.

The cause of the incident is still unknown.
