PHNOM PENH, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia, the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for 2022, has made a contribution of 50,000 U.S. dollars to flood-stricken Pakistan, Cambodian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Chum Sounry said on Monday.

The humanitarian aid was "to show the spirit of international solidarity for Pakistan," he said in a news release.

Sounry said it was the second time that Cambodia provided humanitarian assistance to flood-hit Pakistan after the first contribution of 50,000 U.S. dollars was made in 2010 during a similar flood.

According to the latest statistics issued by Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority on Saturday, the total death toll in Pakistan from this season's monsoon rains and floods since mid-June has risen to around 1,290 along with 12,588 injured.
