PHNOM PENH, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Sunday congratulated a Cambodian swimmer on winning two medals at the Finswimming World Cup Round Swimming Pool 2022 in Thailand.

On his official Facebook, the prime minister said Kaing Muynin earned a gold medal in the women's 400m bi-fins swimming and a bronze medal in the women's 50m bi-fins race.

Organized by the Association of Thailand Underwater Sports, the event was held in southern Thailand's Phuket province from Sept. 2 to 4.

"Our athletes have so far gained three gold and one bronze medal from the tournaments," Hun Sen said.

Hem Kiry, secretary general of the Khmer Swimming Federation, said Cambodia has dispatched an eight-member delegation, including six athletes.

"The tournaments in Phuket are crucial to measure and test the technical ability of athletes in our journey towards the SEA Games 2023 when Cambodia is the host," he said.
