PHNOM PENH, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's anti-drug police have arrested a foreigner for allegedly trafficking narcotics, seizing 100 kg illicit drugs, the Anti-Drug Police Department (ADP) said in a news release on Friday.

The 36-year-old man was caught in Prey Nob district in the southwestern coastal province of Preah Sihanouk on Tuesday after an investigation for months.

"A total of 100.8 kg ketamine, along with a car and a smartphone, was confiscated from the suspect during the crackdown," the ADP said.

The Southeast Asian country has no death sentence for a drug trafficker. Under its law, anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life.

According to the ADP, Cambodia nabbed 10,545 drug suspects, including 154 foreigners, during the January-August period of 2022, seizing 6.11 tons of narcotics.

Seized drugs included crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, ketamine, cathinone, heroin, ecstasy, and cocaine, among others.
