SYDNEY, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- All the three people on board a light plane that crashed Monday in Australia's northeastern state of Queensland were killed, according to the state police.

The light plane crashed in the bushland near Fernvale, west of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, police authorities said.

"Preliminary information indicates the aircraft departed Dalby at 10 a.m. local time (GMT 0000) and was due to land at Archerfield at 2 p.m. (GMT 0400). Authorities began searching for the aircraft when it failed to arrive," the police said in a statement.

Multiple emergency crews were called to the incident, as investigations into the cause of the crash are underway with assistance from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

Australia's national broadcaster ABC earlier reported that the alarm was raised around 2:40 p.m. local time (GMT 0440) when the Cessna plane did not land at Archerfield as planned.

Meanwhile, local media Channel 9 said the aircraft ran into hazardous weather and crashed from the height of approximately 610 meters.
