PHNOM PENH, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's anti-drug police have arrested five foreigners for allegedly possessing and trafficking narcotics, confiscating more than 871 kilograms of drugs, the National Police reported on Wednesday.

The suspects, all male aged between 36 and 71, were apprehended at three locations in Sihanoukville, the coastal city in southwestern Cambodia, on Tuesday after an investigation for more than three months.

"A total of 871.2 kilograms of ketamine as well as an express boat, a motorized boat, one car and two motorcycles were seized from the suspects during the raid," the National Police said on its website.

The Southeast Asian country has no death sentence for a drug trafficker. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be jailed for life.

According to the Anti-Drug Police Department, Cambodia captured 9,151 drug suspects, including 125 foreigners during the January-July period of 2022, confiscating 3.27 tons of illicit drugs.

Most of the seized drugs are crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, ketamine, cathinone, heroin, ecstasy, and cocaine.
