ISLAMABAD, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- A terrorist was killed in a clash with security forces in Pakistan's northwest tribal district of North Waziristan, an army statement said on Monday.
The security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation during which an intense exchange of fire took place between the troops and terrorists, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in the statement.
The ISPR said that one terrorist was killed in the clash, but details about the others were not revealed in the statement, which added that the troops recovered weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorist.
"The killed terrorist remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens," said the statement.
Local people of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area, the ISPR added. ■
