HANOI, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will host the 2022 Mekong Tourism Forum from Oct. 9 to Oct. 14, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the country's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said on Friday.

Themed "Rebuild Tourism, Rebound with Resilience," the forum will take place in the central Quang Nam province, and will be the first of its kind and "the first in-person meeting of the six Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) destinations" since 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

Business leaders and experts in tourism at the forum will focus on how to rebuild tourism into a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable industry, with topics such as post-pandemic recovery, digital transformation and the localization of supply chain on the table.

An exhibition on green tourism in the GMS countries will also be held during the course of the forum, according to the report.

First held in 1996, the forum was an annual event featuring participants from all six GMS countries, namely Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
