KABUL, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Eight people have been confirmed dead and 18 others injured in a blast which rocked western edge of Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul on Friday, Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said on social media.
The blast took place in the Sar-e-Kariz area of Police District 6, Zadran said.
According to the official, the explosive device was placed in a handcart and targeted passers-by.
A couple of days ago, several militants of the Islamic State group were killed in a security forces operation in Kabul. ■
