JAKARTA, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Police in Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi province have arrested two university students for selling 5.2 kg methamphetamine and 16 ecstasy pills, who are linked to an international network, a local police official said on Friday.

"Our team arrested GS (21) and FJ (21) Monday night at different locations, they are couriers, dealers, as well as people who coordinate the distribution of methamphetamine in Southeast Sulawesi," said deputy chief of the Southeast Sulawesi police brigadier general Waris Argono.

The suspects took the methamphetamine in East Java, returned to Southeast Sulawesi by sea, and put the drugs in small packets before distributing them to teenagers and mining workers.

A few weeks earlier, they had smuggled 10 kg crystal meth and circulated the drugs in some areas in Southeast Sulawesi.

The police are currently searching for three other suspects involved in the case.

The suspects, if convicted, could face sentences of life imprisonment or even death penalty according to the law.
