ISLAMABAD, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A soldier and a terrorist were killed in a military operation in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said on Thursday night.
The security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan district of the province, the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
Troops executed a successful operation, the ISPR statement said, adding that the killed terrorist had remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces.
Weapon and ammunition were also seized from the killed terrorist, the statement said.
Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, it added.
"Pakistan security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism in every nook and corner of the country," the Pakistani military said. ■
