ISLAMABAD, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan celebrated its first gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt triumphed in the men's over 109-kilogram category.
Butt lifted 173kg in snatch and 232kg in clean and jerk for a total of 405kg on Wednesday.
This is the second time that Pakistan has won the gold medal in Commonwealth Games weightlifting event as Shujauddin Malik took the gold medal for the country in the men's 85kg category in 2006. ■
