COLOMBO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's cabinet said on Tuesday that it has canceled the circular that declared Fridays a holiday for public sector employees.
Cabinet spokesman Bandula Gunawardena told the media that the cabinet in June decided to keep government offices closed on Fridays because fuel shortages made it difficult for people to go to work.
The public transport facilities are returning to normal, Gunawardena said.
The state-owned Sri Lanka Transport Board has deployed 800 buses to boost transport capacity, he said. "Now trains are also operational. Fuel queues are also reducing." ■
