ISLAMABAD, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted operations in different areas of the country during the last 24 hours, seizing over 2,000 kg of drugs and arresting three suspects, an officer said on Monday.

According to a spokesperson of the ANF, the ANF conducted an intelligence-based operation in Pishin district of the southwest Balochistan province and seized 1,312 kg of hashish.

In another operation, the ANF intercepted a coal-laden truck at Kharlachi border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

Officers seized 32 kg of opium and more than 400 kg of hashish hidden in the truck and smuggled from Afghanistan, the spokesperson said, adding that the driver of the truck was arrested on the spot.

Meanwhile, in another operation in the KP province, the ANF seized 144 kg of hashish from an uninhabited area in North Waziristan district, said the spokesperson.

The seized narcotics were hidden in shrubs for further smuggling across the country, the spokesperson added.

Separately, over 130 kg of narcotics were seized near the capital Islamabad, and 142 kg from the eastern Sheikhupura district in two intelligence-based operations, with two suspects being arrested, said the spokesperson.
