TALUQAN, Afghanistan, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have discovered a weapon cache in Warsaj district of Afghanistan's northern Takhar province, provincial police spokesman Abdul Mubin Safi said Sunday.
The arms depot was unearthed from an abandoned house in Warsaj on Saturday and policemen found a variety of arms and ammunitions including rocket-propelled grenades, mortar and thousands of bullets, Safi said.
No one has been arrested, the official said.
The Afghan police are determined to round up weapons from irresponsible armed men to ensure law and order in the province, Safi added.
The Taliban-run caretaker administration has promised to collect arms from individuals as part of efforts to stabilize peace and security in the war-torn country. ■
