SEOUL, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The number of employed people in South Korea rose 841,000 in June from a year earlier, marking the fastest June growth in 22 years, statistical office data showed Wednesday.
The year-on-year employment growth has been on the decline this year, gradually falling from 1,135,000 in January and 1,037,000 in February to 865,000 in April and 841,000 in June, according to Statistics Korea.
The employment rate for those aged 15 or higher increased by 1.6 percentage points over the year to 62.9 percent in June.
The number of those unemployed came to 888,000 in June, down 205,000 from a year earlier. The jobless rate slipped 0.8 percentage point to 3.0 percent last month. ■
